In Your Hood SG exists to make smaller businesses easier to find. We list home-based businesses, independent service providers, solo professionals and useful online tools — especially the kinds of businesses that can be excellent at what they do without having a huge marketing budget behind them.
Free to list does not mean automatic approval
Standard listings are free to submit. Every submission is reviewed before publication so the directory does not become a collection of scraped links, abandoned pages or vague promotional claims. We look for a real offering, a clear way for customers to learn more or get in touch, and enough information to build a useful profile.
Useful information before the click
A listing should help someone understand what is offered, who it is for, who runs it, how pricing works where available, and what to know before enquiring or signing up. We may edit submitted copy for clarity and consistency rather than publishing marketing text word for word.
Public opinion is part of the directory
Signed-in members can upvote, rate and review listings. That gives visitors another signal beyond the provider’s own description. Reviews are not sold, and paid featuring does not change a community rating.
For independent businesses and makers
A home-based business or solo service provider should not need a large advertising budget just to have a searchable profile. Listing is free. Businesses that want extra visibility can optionally purchase a clearly labelled featured placement, but standard discovery remains available without payment.
